Home owners love technicians who display an “attitude of care and concern”. And they adore workers who are OCF (Obsessive/Compulsive/Fussy) about their work. But even with a cheerful, caring attitude a few “OCF props” will help you make the Cheerleader. Here is one great “stage prop”…
Carry a compact flashlight on your belt to carefully inspect your customer’s concerns.
For example, if the light isn’t perfect get down on one knee, spread the carpet fibers apart and shine your flashlight to check for impacted soil and wicking potential. You can also use your flashlight during the pre-inspection to check out murky corners and dark closets. And a flashlight can prove to the customer that the “dirty” area after cleaning is in reality a SHADOW! (Been there- done that!)
Yep- a flashlight really will help you avoid problems and be a better cleaner. But more importantly you will also be creating a Customer Cheerleader every time you care enough to “shine the light” on her concern!
NOTE: My thanks to Shawn Abbey of Abbey Carpet Care in Salem, OR for this great QuickTIP.

PS: If you really want to impress the home owner also carry this second flashlight- a Micro LED Ultraviolet Light to localize pet urine deposits. And you can save money with this special offer for SFS web site readers!
