[private]Jack Welch, former CEO of GE was famous for saying “When the change on the outside exceeds the change on the inside, the end is near.”
Looking back at the wreckage of 2008, many companies are breathing a sigh of relief almost as if to say we made it. Well 2009 has shown very little to get excited about in the opening days. Hope may spring eternal but businesses don’t run on hope. What are you doing to make sure a year from now that you are still among not only the survivors but also the businesses that have actually strengthened?
This is not meant as a message of doom but as a reminder that a renewed focus on your customer is the most important item on your agenda. Spend a little more time with customers and ask them what in their wildest dreams would they like to see in the way you service them. Those of you that are SFS grads already have the tools to increase the number of cheerleaders in your ranks. Look back at your service circle and focus on each circle and see how can you improve it. Ask each employee how the company can improve those powerful moments of truth.
Hopefully your 2009 resolutions for your business haven’t already been forgotten along with those exercise and weight loss goals. If Mr. Welch were your consultant he would be asking for your 2009 changes. Make them good ones.[/private]
Thanks Bill for getting my head straight for 2009. There is no doubt I’ve gotten a bit fat and complacent over the last few years. Time to refocus. BTW, kudos to you and Steve for a great site. I’m putting it in my “favorites” right now. Keep it up and it just may become my new home page for 2009!

This is a rocking site. hopefully I’ll learn enough to say something intelligent.

Good point f.c. Actually you DO have the option of putting in your pic with your profile. We just don’t have it that well documented yet…
We are using a service called Gravatar. If you go online to http://en.gravatar.com you can link an image to your email address. Then your picture will appear on any site that you register for that uses Gravatar.
That’s how Island Boy and Big Billy have gotten their mugshots up on screen!
Give it a try!
